Oxford Instruments Kelvinox Dilution Insert DIL2
DIL2 was aquired in 2006, mainly financed by the
"SNF Förderungsprofessur Michel Kenzelmann".
It is equipped with a weak link, allowing access to the
range 1...2 K without removing the mixture.
DIL2 Sample mounting
used in | | MA15 | MA11 | MA02 | MA09 |
sample space diameter [mm] | | 17 | 17 | 23.6 | 45 |
max. sample diameter [mm] | d | 14* | 14* | 22 | 40 |
distance from M6 thread to beam center [mm] adjustable by about +- 10 mm | a | 51 | 51 | 97 | 194 |
allowed size below beam center [mm] | b | 32 | 32 | 60 | 24** |
(*) The maximum allowed size depends on the distance to the
next spacer, which is larger when using the weak link. Please contact
Markus Zolliker for designing sample holders larger than 14 mm in diameter.
(**) Slightly higher values might be acceptable on request.
On the mixing chamber as well as at the end of the
sample holder there is an M6 hole. The sample holder
has normally a length of m = 245 mm.
Problems with DIL2
- The weak link was too weak, and there was no spacer on it.
We have shortened the weak section and put a spacer above
it.
- The gauges G1 and G2 do not work reliably. As a workaround,
the (earlier unused) G3 gauge has now a connection to the
beam dump.
