Oxford Instruments Kelvinox Dilution Insert DIL2

DIL2 was aquired in 2006, mainly financed by the "SNF Förderungsprofessur Michel Kenzelmann". It is equipped with a weak link, allowing access to the range 1...2 K without removing the mixture.

DIL2 Sample mounting

used inMA15MA11MA02MA09
sample space diameter [mm]17.317.323.645
max. sample diameter [mm]16161835
distance from M6 thread to beam center [mm]
adjustable by about +- 10 mm
515197194
allowed size below beam center [mm]35356024
On the mixing chamber as well as at the end of the sample holder there is an M6 hole.

Problems with DIL2

  • The weak link is too weak. For the first experiments we will use a simple copper sample holder, and use the sensor on the mixing chamber.

  • The sensor on the mixing chamber is defect. A new one is ordered. In the meantime, an additional sensor on the copper holder is installed.

  • The gauges G1 and G2 do not work reliably.
