Preparing the Kelvinox Dilution and Gas Handling System
- pump the traps (heat out each for 30 min, but pump longer)
- pump out the condenser and pumping line, on the gas handling
system and on the stick (all volumes might be connected)
After some hours (or one night)
- make the seal with clean fingers (a thick layer on the stick,
only a small amount inside the aluminium tube)
- put the tube, turning it a little on the seal and start pumping
with the leak detector.
- leak check
- put into LN2 for precooling, put a small amount of He (1 mbar or
less) into the IVC.
- if there is no hurry and the sample must be cooled slowly,
the stick might be put directly into the cryostat (without LN2 precooling).
- cool down the heat exchanger of the variox or magnet (setpoint 5 K)
- pump the IVC (15 min. with sorb temperature set to 40 K,
then 1 h without sorb heater)
- test if the temperature of the mixing chamber is no longer coupled
to the heat exchanger (changing the setpoint to 6 or 7 K).
- if not yet done, take the special assembly to connect the pumping
line and the condenser line with the stick
- pump out the adapter piece
