2 Electrical Wiring
2.1 Cryostat Wiring
Please refer to the cryostat and magnet general assembly drawing in conjunction with the diagrams above.
2.1.1 Magnet Service Necks
SYMMETRIC ENERGISATION (8/9 TESLA)
Coaxial current lead terminal on tall cryostat services neck
(this neck also features the VTI needle valve):
lnner terminal post l+ (start of entire magnet)
(red wire from magnet)
Outer terminal post 1- (end of entire magnet)
(black wire from magnet)
ASYMMETRIC ENERGISATION (4 TESLA) Co-axial current lead terminal on short cryostat services neck (this neck also features the syphon entry port):lnner terminal post l+ (start of selected coils)
(blue wire from magnet)
Outer terminal post 1+ (end of selected coils)
(brown wire from magnet)
Ten pin connector on services neck with syphon entry :Connections to persistent mode switch heaters.
Ten pin connector on services neck with lambda point refrigerator needle valve and pumping line:Connections to carbon resistors for monitoring lambda point refrigerator.
Ten pin connector on services neck with VTI needle valve :Connections to helium level probe.
VTI WIRING.
Ten pin connectors on VTI top plate :VTI heat exchanger thermometry and non-inductive heater.
Ten pin connector on cryostat top plate :Heater and carbon resistor for clearing VTI needle valve blockages.
Five pin connector on services neck with motor drive :Auto-needle valve control for the VTI.
2.2 Magnet Winding
