MA15 Restrictions
Instrument | Allowed Max. Field [Tesla] |
RITA-2 | 11.5 ... 14.9 (see below) |
EIGER | 10 |
TASP | 8 (see below) |
RITA-2
The operation of MA15 on Rita-II is allowed:
- between 3.0 and 17.0 meV at a distance of 450 mm or more, up to 14.9 Tesla
- between 3.0 and 8.0 meV at a distance of 410 mm or more, up to 13.5 Tesla
- between 8.0 and 17.0 meV at a distance of 410 mm or more, up to 11.5 Tesla
For any other configuration force tests have to be done.

How the distance has to be measured.
In this example the distance is around 400 mm.
TASP
The operation on TASP is allowed up to a field of 12 Tesla for A2 angles between -45 and -100.
The distance to the monochromator must be 630 mm or more, and the distance to the beryllium filter
250 mm. See pictures how to measure:
MA15TASPRestrictions
EIGER
Operation permitted to 10T at 270mm distance between sample table and monochromator block mounting.
This limit might be increased after exchangeing some magnetic parts in the sample table.
