Instrument field direction
parallel to beam
field direction
perpendicular to beam
Conditions
SANS-I 11 Tesla 11 Tesla
SANS-II 6 Tesla 5 Tesla
AMOR 2 Tesla * *
RITA-II 11 Tesla 11 Tesla 45 deg < a2 < 100 deg, d = 450 mm

(*) to be reevaluated, ask Markus Zolliker

Remarks for SANS-II

Force measurements (29.5.08):
  • 8 kg at 4 Tesla perpendicular
  • 8 kg at 5 Tesla parallel
It seems that most of the force is induced by a steel ring on the valve before the detector tank.

Remarks for RITA-II

Monochromator sample distance at least 450 mm

MA15RitaRestrictions/SampleTableDistance.jpg
How the distance has to be measured. In this example the distance is around 400 mm.

Force measurements 14.7.2009 at 8 Tesla:

  • 10 kg horizontal
  • < 5 kg vertical
Extrapolation for 11 Tesla: 20 kg
