ILL4 is a cryostat has a special, low-background sample chamber used uniquely on FOCUS. There is an appartus for automatic liquid helium fill for it.

In the sample sapce, there is a beam stop with an inner diameter of less than 60 mm. The sample space diameter without beam stop is 68.5 +- 1 mm, the sample tube diameter down to the heat exchanger (at 825 mm cold) is 70.5 mm.

Solved Issues

  • There was a large leak on the special vacuum tank on FOCUS.
