NOBUGS 2004 Overview

The fifth NOBUGS conference was held in October, 18-20, 2004 at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen PSI.

The aim of the NOBUGS series of conferences is to foster collaboration between IT professionals working at X-ray and neutron sources around the world. This collaboration should yield better data acquisition and data analysis software for the users of such facilities. This in turn will increase user productivity and thus maximise the scientific result to be obtained from the large investment required to build and maintain X-ray or Neutron facilities.

NOBUGS 2004 feautures oral and poster presentations of the latest developments in data acquisition, data analysis, user interface design and general computer science as is relevant to users and programmers working at scientific facilities.

The conference topics include, but are not limited to:

A tour of the PSI will be provided during the course of the conference. There will be a workshop dinner on Tuesday.

There was a precursor to NOBUGS, involving only synchrotron people which served as an inspiration. This was A Workshop on Graphical User Interfaces for Synchrotron Protein Crystallography at Brookhaven National Laboratory in 1995.
